Profile

I am an artist, currently working in clay.  I've also designed and redesigned interiors in health care as lead designer in The Focused Image (1985 - 1989) as well as creating food labels (Rose's Just Right Fresh Salsa) logos, and furniture.  I designed and contracted my home, studio and gallery in Spicewood where I make and sell my one of a kind clay vessels.

Education

Austin College, Sherman, Texas  graduated January 1975 with a BA in Art

Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts,  Certificate of Mastery Program,  1976-77

Skills

Having been self employed since my college days, I've performed all aspects of running a business from marketing, to creating the product, and client relations.  I've presented to medical boards of directors and hosted field trips for all ages and abilities.  I hold a private pilot's license and make custom designed pottery and sculpture.  I open my studio and gallery on the weekends for clay workshops, art sales and music events.

Work Experience

I began my paid work in the 9th grade.  That year I was a floral designer apprentice and worked for free after school and on weekends.  I worked 20 hours a week in high school and college as a floral designer.  At 22 I chose to be self employed and built terrariums and planted them with collected mosses and ferns.  I have been self employed since that time.

My formal training is in the arts and I have made a living as an artist throughout my adult life.  I established Shade Tree Potter's studio in 1978 and moved to Austin in 1982.   I have continued my clay work, throughout this time, even while having other career and life commitments. ( wife, mother )

I formed The Focused Image, design consultants, in the mid 80's and was lead designer.  Our main client for design services was Austin Diagnostic Clinic ( John Sligh, facilities manager ) and for framing services, the Lower Colorado River Authority.

I was married and ran a ranch for 10 years.  Mostly I was overseer of house compound, landscaping and office management.  I was also the pilot for the extended family.

In 2000 I built a new studio and gallery in Spicewood and continue to work there teaching workshops and hosting musical events several times each year.

Activities

2008

Volunteer Activity, Spicewood Arts Society's ARTs RoundUP - each of the past 7 years I've been the artist liason for this art and music festival which I helped to found with several Spicewood neighbors.  I also do artist talks and clay projects for girl scouts, camp fire girls, boy scouts and Spicewood Elementary School's 5th grade field trip.
